Green Spot Irish Whiskey

Green Spot is a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, one of the only 100% pure pot-still whiskeys produced today. The Blended Green Spot is aged at 8 years old with 25% of the whiskey being matured in sherry casks. A rare whiskey with a lot of history in the bottle.

Green Spot is a single pot still Irish Whiskey and one of the only 100% pure pot-still whiskey today. Created by Irish distillers at the Midleton Distillery in Cork, it is one of the only remaining bonded Irish whiskeys and is the only brand specifically created for and sold by an independent wine merchant in Ireland.

Mitchell & Son wine merchants were established in 1805 but it is unclear when exactly Green Spot whiskey was first produced. By the 1920s, Jameson’s distillery was supplying Mitchell & Son with 100 sherry hogsheads of pot-distilled whiskey per annum. Half of the casks provided previously held dark Sherries such as Oloroso and the other half held lighter finos. This was to prevent the wine from overpowering the whiskies. The whiskey was then allowed to mature for five years in casks and then, before being vatted, it was allowed to blend and mature for a further 5 years. This allowed them to sell the whiskey as a 10 yo. The blend was originally known as a ‘Pat whiskey’ and due to the logo of a man on a green background, it led to the whiskey being known as Green Spot.

Nowadays, Green Spot is a blend of 8-year-old single pot still whiskies, with 25% being matured in sherry casks. There are only 200 cases produced per annum of which most are sold through Mitchell & Son’s shop in Dublin, making it hard to obtain outside of Ireland.

Shipping & Delivery

Delivery of products can be arranged either by the buyer, who may collect the goods from our premises once notified that the goods are ready for collection, or by the company delivering to an agreed location, in accordance with the chosen Incoterms (FOB, CIF, CNF) under Incoterms 2020. All dates provided for product delivery are approximate, and we are not liable for any delays, regardless of the cause. Delivery time is not considered an essential term of the contract unless explicitly agreed to by BI-Trade GmbH in writing. Products may be delivered earlier than the specified date, with reasonable notice given to the buyer.
In cases where products are delivered in installments, each installment constitutes a separate contract. Any failure by BI-Trade GmbH to deliver one or more installments, or any claim by the buyer regarding one or more installments, will not entitle the buyer to repudiate the entire contract. Additionally, it will not release the buyer from their obligations under these conditions.
If we are unable to deliver the products for reasons beyond our control or due to fault on the part of the buyer, and BI-Trade GmbH is held liable, our liability will be limited to the amounts paid by the buyer under the contract. BI-Trade GmbH will not be held liable for any failure by a designated shipping agency to deliver the products or for any related violations.
If the buyer fails to take delivery of the products or provide adequate delivery instructions at the agreed time, BI-Trade GmbH reserves the right to:
- Store the products until actual delivery and charge the buyer for reasonable storage costs, including insurance; or
- Sell the products at the best available price and, after deducting all reasonable storage and selling expenses, either credit the buyer with any excess over the contract price or charge the buyer for any shortfall below the contract price.
